- Mt. Morris Fire Responds to Mutual Aid to Polo for a Structure Fire -

On the afternoon of August 7th, 2008 Mt. Morris Fire was requested automatic aid to the city of Polo for a report of a working fire in the 100 block of north Barber Ave. Mt. Morris sent a Chief and an Engine Co. additionally Polo made a special request for a Truck Co. Firefighters fought a stubborn well seated blaze in a 100 plus year old balloon frame residence. Polo Command rapidly requested additional alarms ultimately reaching the 4th alarm level. Mt. Morris responded with a Tender Co. on the 4th alarm level. Firefighters from several MABAS Divisions throughout Northern Illinois converged on the scene. They not only had to fight a stubborn blaze, but also fought the high humidity and high ambient temperatures. Fire Co’s extinguished the blaze and were clear by early evening.
